About Katie
I am a law student who has been giving lessons to fellow university students for the past year and a half now. I have taught 5 students at A-Level. Each student achieved the minimum pass level in their course, my a-level students earned high B's/A's. I myself have A-Levels in English Language (A), History (B) and Government and Politics (C) as well as 2 AS Levels, a Level 2 Distinction in IT Application Skills and 12 GCSE's A-C.

I’m a tutor who teaches mainly AS/A-Level students. As a tutor who went through my A-Levels recently I use that experience to formulate my lesson plans to fit my students individually rather than having a set plan as I am aware that different people learn in different ways. I personally learn best through establishing a set goal at the beginning of study session and tailoring my study around that goal and give myself a knowledge test at the end to see what information I have retained. I have also found that some students learn through visuals and others through listening; This is why I employ PowerPoints, the use of documentaries and varied sources in order to suit my students and enable them to pick up on information. At the end of every topic taught I administer a small knowledge-based test to make sure that information is retained, if it is then we move on to a different topic however if the student struggles I know that we need to do a recap of the topic before moving on. Such knowledge tests are administered not to put pressure on students but to make sure they understand a topic and feel comfortable. I also help students create study notes that can be used for later revision so that they are encouraged to engage in some independent study, I have found that this skill benefits students who go on to higher education.

The rate of travel costs may vary if the student is outside of the Workington/ Cockermouth area, usually it will not be a dramatic increase and if you contact me directly we can work something out that is suitable for both parties.
