About Tom
I am an Honors graduate in Classics at the University of Melbourne, where I wrote a thesis on efficient teaching methods for ancient Greek. I work at a museum writing educational programs about ancient history for adults and school groups, but can never help but think that unless people study the ancient languages, they aren't able to fully immerse themselves in the past! I also run tours in spoken Latin, as well as workshops in ancient paleography, reading manuscripts and graffiti from ancient Greece and Rome.

Salvete omnes! Χαίρετε πάντες! Maxime gaudeo te profilum meum invenisse. In our lessons, we'll figure out your particular goals with Latin or ancient Greek, and which methods are most suitable for you. One of the best ways to learn any language is through immersion, and by using it, and the same is true of ancient language. That's why I offer the option of speaking these languages together as we read passages or study grammar. Latin and Greek open you up to an understanding of the past which is less available to those only reading in translation. In time, you can learn to read authentic texts in their original languages fluently, and I would love to help you on the way to achieving this. Vale!
