I have a Doctorate in Education (Instructional Technology), a MEd Early Childhood Education and a BA in Psychology/Sociology. I am certified to teach in 3 states (VA, FL, MO): K-3, Family Consumer Science, and ESOL endorsed in FL. I instructed in the military for over 10 years, and was classroom teacher for 2. I like to structure a lesson by going over information, either through texts or other media. I want to find out what knowledge and experiences a student may have with a certain subject. From there, I determine how much more direct teaching is required. I prefer to move into activities and independent research/work that is age and developmentally appropriate for the student. Younger and/or below grade level students require more direct instruction in contrast to a high school or gifted student.
