About Sophie
Hi, I'm Sophie! I studied at the University of Cambridge (MPhil) and University College London (BSc) in History and Philosophy of Science. I was graduate teaching assistant at McGill University from (2019–2021), covering introductions to deductive logic, philosophy and political philosophy. My A-levels were in Physics, Mathematics and Philosophy. I originally wanted to be an astronomer but fell in love with philosophy (I achieved 100% on my first Philosophy exam -- I was as surprised as anyone would be!). This led me into Philosophy of Science, which has been the focus of my research ever since. Before I moved to McGill, I spent two years tutoring for a charity, helping students with Philosophy, English Language and Literature, and writing personal statements for university. More recently, I have been tutoring on another online platform for around five years. I've taught many Philosophy sessions to students of all ages. Whether you're looking to pass an exam with flying colours, work on a university essay, or just want to learn about philosophy for pleasure, I have you covered. Philosophy is a subject that requires one to grapple with difficult arguments and concepts, and be able to think clearly. As such, my preference is for tutee-led discussions as these ensure that the tutee understands tricky concepts. That said, every session is tailored to individual needs. All I need is to know in advance whether you require a structured lesson on a particular topic (please give me at least 3 days' notice if this is the case).
