About Alexandra
I have just finished my IB Diploma Programme, with my Higher Levels in English Literature, Philosophy and History, and my Standard Levels in Mathematics, Latin and Biology. I am awaiting my grades, but was predicted a score of 45/45 points. I also plan to attend University in October, with my firm offer being the University of Oxford to study Law.
I am incredibly studious and received 11 grade 9s at GCSE in Maths, English Literature, English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Latin, German, History, Geography and Religious Studies.
For tutoring English at 11+ and Common Entrance ,I believe the best way to thrive is to give the student unseen texts and allow them to interpret it themselves, while I guide them through comprehension questions. This is also incredibly useful for any creative writing tasks, as it helps to broaden their vocabulary and ideas. These methods are also useful in tutoring English language and English literature GCSE, but I will also help them consider themes in the novels, plays and poems they are studying as these are also a key part of the course. I will always come to the lesson prepared with information on these texts, and points of discussion that may be useful. I may also help the students plan past questions so they can transfer their knowledge into writing essays.
I am also happy to tutor GCSE History and Religious Studies. For these lessons I will focus on a particular topic or time period, and not only aim to teach the students vital content, but also help to transfer these skills into writing essays that will score high marks. Therefore, I will also spend a lot of time looking at exam technique, as well as content.
Lastly, I also have knowledge on 7+ and 11+ admissions to North London Collegiate School and other similar schools.
