About Laurel
I'm a junior at Yale. I'm a writer, I write fiction, poetry, and criticism. I live in New Haven with two friends and my cat, Cabbage, who (should you choose to hire me as a tutor), would be an occasional intruder during video calls. In my free time I play guitar and piano.

Test taking is a skill, meaning that every single student stands to make significant improvements in their score by practicing and meeting with a tutor regularly, especially a tutor who is able to guide them towards top scores.
My philosophy re: test prep is grounded in the belief that my students are my equals. It's not my job to provide them with tips and tricks to memorize (though that's certainly helpful sometimes). My job is to draw understanding out of the student which is already there. My ultimate goal is building so much confidence & comprehension in the student that they're able to teach the material back to me. My job is to turn students into tutors themselves. With this method, even if the student forgets something on the test, they'll be able to teach it back to themselves in the moment. This method was critical to my own success on these tests.
