About Alan
I am a student in my last year studying Journalism at Algonquin College, I have worked as a tutor for the last seven years at the Kumon Math and Reading center in my locality gaining a detailed knowledge of both subjects and an appreciation for the nuances of teaching.

My methodology follows the ideas that I've taken teaching for Kumon. I guide the student with minimal supervision to the solution to their problems allowing them to think critically and only stepping in to prompt them in the right direction.
My class structure would follow a simple top to bottom approach starting with the topic and then deconstructing the subject matter into sections based on difficulty. This is where I can identify any short comings with the students comprehension and address them appropriately. Finally getting to the finer points and more nuanced topics, rounding out the lesson touching on these topics to ensure that the lesson is thoroughly understood.
