About Maggie
After graduating from college I started working mostly in education because I wanted to work with students. It’s important to me that every student can find practical applications that interest them and empower them. I was lucky to have the educators and mentors I had that helped me graduate with honours in both high school and college, as well as cheered me on when I won writing awards. I want to be that person for you. I'm excited to work with you because I want to get to know you, but I also want to work on the little things that'll lead to further success in all areas of your life.
A little back on my background, I graduated with distinction from Ohio University with a major in Journalism, a minor in History, and a certificate in Political Communication. During my time there, I received training from multiple professionals and well-respected journalists in storytelling and writing. Thanks to their mentorship, I went onto receive two awards for my writing as well as be recognised as a White House Correspondents' Association scholar. After graduating, I focused on education and how I could play a role in student development. I've worked in multiple roles and context and developed the confidence to provide authentic, effective support. I will receive a master's in educational leadership from Queen's University Belfast in December which will play a key role in continuing in my effort to be an impactful educator.

My lessons are focused on helping writing becoming attainable and meaningful for students of all abilities and ages. My typical process is to focus on understanding who the student is, what their goals are, and what struggles they might be struggling with. I want to let them to get to know me as well so we can establish a good partnership focused on personal development. Specifically, I will focus on mindfulness to help with mindset, analysing work with curiosity versus judgement, and being comfortable taking risk with new projects. Each session will be personalised to the student and my focus will stay on that during our tenure together.
