About Jess
I'm a grade 12 AP Bio student, with an honours life sciences, specifying in biomechanics and biomedical sciences, early acceptance into Waterloo University. I struggle with anxiety and school-related anxieties, and channel that into my studies to prove myself wrong and get better results in my courses than previously thought.
Being a student with ADHD, I know how difficult it is to stay focused in classes and take notes, which is why I focus my approach on making sure people can stay interested and involved in my lessons while still having fun.
I'm currently taking courses in kinesiology and chemistry, both applied sciences that I thoroughly enjoy. Both subjects have taught me adequate knowledge of anatomy and biochemistry.
With dreams to go into Anesthesiology and McMaster Med School after undergraduate studies, I want to help others gain the same confidence in biology that I'n lucky enough to have now.

Through online lessons, I can help students both understand new concepts such as photosynthesis, Krebs cycle, or cellular respiration, and also help reinforce pre-existing understanding on recurring themes that occur all throughout biology courses, such as genetics, cellular anatomy, homeostasis, evolution, body systems, and beginner organic chemistry such as carboxyl groups and base molecules.
Being a high school student myself, I know which study methods work best for the typical high school course layouts, and due to the standardized teachings of biology, I can generally help students both understand current concepts, as well as introduce upcoming concepts to help them understand better in class when they are taught by their own teachers.
Starting with beginner biology studies in younger grades, I have a thorough understanding of biology concepts all through first-year university, and I can apply this knowledge to grades 1-12 to help raise their grades, and understanding, of biology, and prepare them for the biology studies of their future.
Being a student with ADHD, I also know which study methods work for students with learning disabilities such as mine, and I can teach in a way that I myself would understand, as well as accommodate to the needs of my students. I tend to use many diagrams and drawings of biological processes as a visual learner, like many with ADHD, and plan to apply this to my sessions.
