About Richard
I have been a student of the saxophone for almost 11 years, and could go my whole life dwelling in the complexities of music theory, jazz improvisation, and simply expanding my limits of my instruments. Although the one I am most proficient in is the Saxophone (Alto & Tenor), I do enjoy teaching beginners to intermediates the fundamentals of the Guitar, Clarinet, and Flute!
Job Experience:
At Mathnasium Learning Center, I have gained 3 years of hands-on teaching experience with students K-12, including certified workshops on teaching techniques geared toward teaching bright young students how to approach a subject. I believe that these tools would be the perfect asset to apply to any student willing to learn through SuperProf, and will guide the students' motivation to achieve the level of success they so desire.

In music and beyond, I have received and applied the knowledge of my accomplished college mentors, accrued several strengths and drawn my own conclusions about what it is to be a successful recording/gigging musician in the San Diego scene over several years. Whether it be on the band stand of the SDSU jazz ensemble, or shredding a solo with the funk/Hip-Hop project ‘Heaping Teaspoon’ on the Music Box stage in Downtown San Diego, my experience is being put to the test every day, and my hope is that I may extend this knowledge to any eager learner with ambitions to execute their skills in whatever setting they are hired for with expertise and efficiency.
Upon Meeting the student, I plan to:
1. Assess students' Skills
2. Customize a Learning Plan
3. Teach for understanding
From here, a multitude of topics could be covered which I will tailor to YOUR interests and goals, exercising strengths and weaknesses equally to become a well-rounded Musician!
