About Jacob

As a teenager, I often struggled with exams and found school difficult. I believed I wasn’t naturally “smart” and, as a result, I didn’t enjoy learning. That changed when I met a Biology teacher who inspired me and made the subject come alive. Their passion and encouragement gave me the confidence to believe in myself, and I began to see science not as a challenge to fear, but as something exciting and rewarding to explore. That experience was life-changing — it led me to study Biology at university and eventually complete a PhD in Immunology. Most importantly, it taught me that studying should be enjoyable, and that curiosity is the key to genuine success. I want to pass on that same encouragement to my students. My aim is not only to help them achieve their academic goals, but also to spark an interest in Biology that will stay with them long after their exams.

About the lesson

My lessons are always tailored to the individual student. I believe that everyone learns differently, so I adapt my teaching style to match the pace, goals and confidence level of each learner. Whether you are preparing for GCSE or A-level exams, or tackling more advanced undergraduate topics, I make sure that sessions are clear, engaging and well-structured. For GCSE and A-level students, lessons focus on mastering core content, developing strong exam technique, and using effective revision strategies. We break topics down into manageable steps and work through past paper questions to build both knowledge and confidence. For undergraduates, I offer support with advanced areas of biology, including physiology, immunology and molecular biology. I can also help with research methods, lab skills and structuring assignments. I encourage students to ask questions and think critically, creating a supportive space where they feel comfortable tackling challenging material. Regular feedback helps track progress and identify areas for improvement, ensuring steady development over time. Ultimately, my aim is not just to help students achieve better results, but to build lasting confidence and enjoyment in Biology.
