About Tarun
Hello! I'm Tarun, Ireland's youngest International Master and currently the nation's top-ranked active chess player. Chess has been my passion and focus for over a decade, leading to significant achievements on the international stage. My motivation for teaching stems from a deep love for this beautiful and intricate game, coupled with the rewarding experience of witnessing others unlock their potential. Having benefited immensely from excellent coaching throughout my own development, I understand the profound impact a knowledgeable and dedicated mentor can have. I want to teach because I believe that the strategic thinking, problem-solving skills, and mental resilience cultivated through chess are invaluable, extending far beyond the 64 squares. Sharing the insights and knowledge I've gained through years of intense study and competition, and guiding students on their own unique chess journeys, is incredibly fulfilling. My approach to private chess tutoring is highly personalized, built on a foundation of meticulously analyzing your games to pinpoint both your strengths and areas for development. This detailed understanding allows me to tailor each session to your specific needs, ensuring focused progress.
Beyond simply teaching strategies and tactics, I act as a mentor, guiding you through the unique challenges that chess players face – from handling tournament pressure to overcoming plateaus in your learning. I share insights gleaned from my own journey as Ireland's youngest International Master and current No. 1 active player.
A typical lesson is usually intense and runs for 1 to 2 hours, allowing us to delve deeply into specific concepts, analyze positions thoroughly, and work on practical exercises. The duration can be adjusted based on your concentration level and the specific goals of the session.
While I have experience advising Grandmasters and International Masters, I am equally passionate about nurturing talent at all levels. I have successfully trained children of all ages and abilities, from complete beginners taking their first steps on the board to aspiring young talents aiming for competitive success.
My teaching adapts to the student's age, understanding, and goals, ensuring an engaging and effective learning experience for everyone.
