About Ava
Growing up as a kid in theatre, I was constantly over emotional. I remember the sensitivity of being that age and how it complicates academics and trying to navigate school. This is what I believe sets me apart from other tutors, because I can help students learn how to create balance in their chaotic worlds. I think teaching English has been extremely beneficial to my students in the past because at its core it teaches you about the human experience, and how to communicate with the people around us. Having worked closely with directors, teachers, and professors, I have a varied and wide array of teaching methods that have shown to be effective with most learning styles.

AGE RANGE: 1st-12th grade
With several years of experience working as a director in a children's theatre and as a camp counselor, I can create effective and focused lesson plans that speak to an individuals strengths, while helping develop in areas they struggle. As a history scholar as well as an English scholar, I draw upon a wide range of sources that expand upon the topics in the material. Thus, students will enrich their critical thinking skills and learn how to become stronger and more confident communicators.
I believe that a strong foundation in English and composition is a fundamental skill that will serve a student in any field, therefore, my students will be taught how to diversify their skills and apply the concepts of English to other subjects. I adore working with kids and helping them grow, and I think that energy is noticed by the kids I work with. Sharing the joy of language and communication creates a natural motivation that makes children want to learn.
