As a former language student of the US Department of Defense language institute, I use the same techniques to master the sounds of the target foreign language and practice by recording your own voice with a native voice. First capture the unusual sounds of the native language band begin using them right away to learn to speak. Then listen to the language to understand that so many words are the same with a different pronunciation and practice listening to understand. Then follow up with learning to write, spelling correctly, and then follow up with reading to build your vocabulary. With this background I was able to achieve an average 3.65 GPA at the college level for three foreign languages including French. Have fun learning the language, the culture, the history, literature and current political climate.
