About Kolam
I am a passionate piano tutor with 12 years of experience teaching students from school, college, and professional backgrounds. My teaching philosophy focuses on creating an encouraging and inspiring learning environment where students feel confident to explore music, develop technical skills, and express themselves creatively.
I have guided students through recitals, graded exams, and competitions, helping them achieve recognition for their talent and hard work. My lessons include technique, sight-reading, music theory, improvisation, and performance skills, all tailored to each student’s level, goals, and interests. I strive to make learning piano a rewarding and enjoyable journey, nurturing both skill and a lifelong love for music.

I follow a teaching approach built on compassion, encouragement, and active support. I recognise that every student has a unique learning style, and I design lessons that adapt to their pace, goals, and interests. In piano lessons, I focus on technical skills, musicality, rhythm, and creative expression, blending structured exercises with engaging and enjoyable pieces.
I encourage open communication, allowing students to ask questions, share feedback, and actively participate in their learning. Supportiveness is key—I help students overcome challenges, celebrate milestones, and build confidence.
This approach also applies to other subjects I teach, including music theory, composition, and beginner improvisation. My goal is to create a nurturing and inspiring environment where students can grow musically, creatively, and personally.
