About Lauren

I’m a London-based Cambridge graduate with a 2:1 BA in English. I offer 1:1 lessons with a focus on 11+ comprehension and creative writing.

As your child’s parent, you are their greatest champion, and I would love to go on the 11+ journey along with you. As a parent of two myself, I understand the pressures of wanting to find the best school for your child and what it takes to help them to succeed.

I attended Bancroft’s Prep and Forest Girls’ School so I am well-versed in the demands of the 11+ and the high standards needed to pass these exams. I also successfully tutored my son for The Latymer entrance exam in 2025 so I have a particular knowledge of this exam.

I am also a highly experienced TV Drama Producer specialising in literary adaptations of classic novels. I have excellent real-world experience analysing texts, generating creative ideas and writing to the highest standards.

I have excellent academic credentials, having gained all A*s at GCSE and As at A Level before going on to study English Literature at Cambridge. I know just what it takes to succeed academically and I am excited to work with similarly ambitious students on their steps towards selective schools.

I have particular experience in tutoring neurodivergent students. With a ten-year-old of my own I have an excellent understanding of what engages students at this age. I have a creative and fun approach to lessons which secures the core building blocks of learning while also keeping students interested and motivated.

About the lesson

My personally tailored, engaging lessons focus on building creative writing skills and confidence while also ensuring that core English skills are secure.

My aim is for students to make steady progress while also enjoying their learning. Students should always feel confident and reassured even while tackling new concepts. I also teach effective exam techniques to ensure every child feels prepared and ready to succeed.

I use real-world professional creative writing techniques to inspire ambitious, original writing. At the same time I also work with them to build fluency in core skills and their confidence in showcasing what they know in an exam situation.

I feel strongly that reading widely is the gateway to good writing and I have a number of tried and tested strategies for helping reluctant readers discover a passion for books.
At the start of the process I will set goals for progress and time frames for achieving them. Parents are provided with clear and timely information on how well their child is progressing. I also encourage regular feedback as I feel that the tutoring process works best when it is a two-way one, and this helps me better tailor lessons to your child.
