About Julien

I own a top-rated music studio in Toronto and a Pro Audio/Music Retail Store. When I started teaching, I wanted to help students get discounts on their new audio gear. Over time, we ended up launching our very own retail store, Blackout Audio, featuring all your favorite brands, big and small! Needless to say, students of Matte Black Records receive exclusive discounts.

I've been working in the industry for 18 years, gaining extensive experience as both a Music Producer and an Audio Engineer. Fun fact: I once taught audio engineering to a Grammy-nominated music producer!

About the lesson

I teach Music Production, Recording, Mixing, Mastering, and Music Business to beginners and intermediate students. I've had the privilege of teaching students from many local audio engineering and music production institutes.

What my students love most is the hands-on learning experience in our professional studio—an environment equipped with top industry tools that allows them to develop their skills in a real-world setting. Beyond the technical side, I also help artists navigate the music industry, guiding them on how to get signed to labels and build lasting careers.

Lessons are held at our brand-new 2,300 sq. ft. studio in downtown Toronto or online. I work with all genres and ages, so if you're new, don't be nervous! We're here to achieve your goals—while having fun along the way!
