About Samantha
I am an Animal Science (pre-veterinary concentration) major with a minor in Microbiology at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, California. I will be attending veterinary school this coming fall and am seeking a career in veterinary clinical pathology. I am dedicated to advancing the understanding of infectious diseases in the context of veterinary medicine.
On campus, I am actively engaged in research in the biotechnology field where I learned various molecular techniques and became passionate about research on diseases!
I spend my breaks back home working in a small animal emergency and specialty hospital and love the fast-paced environment of emergency veterinary medicine! I also have had the opportunity to spend close to a month working in the largest wildlife hospital in Central America, Rescate Wildlife Rescue Center in Costa Rica, where I became fascinated with wildlife pathology! My goal is to incorporate my interests in research, pathology, and emergency medicine into a career as a veterinarian.
Outside of school, I love the outdoors and I have made it my mission to visit every U.S. national park at some point in my life! I also love weightlifting, baking, going to the beach, and exploring local cafes! I am also passionate about teaching others and want to help others succeed and become passionate about biology. It's an amazing field to be in!!!

I struggled through my initial biology courses in college but have explored various strategies to find how to effectively study the subject. I am flexible with finding learning techniques that work with different individuals and typically employ active recall techniques for long-term retention. I am able to teach biology for K-12 students as well as college students. I have worked as a research assistant in biology laboratories and am a veterinary assistant so I hope to teach students biology on a practical level (and what they need to know in a real-world setting) as well as what they need to know for their specific courses.
