About Mikhal
Hello! My name is Mikhal, and I am an incoming freshman at Harvard University studying Bioengineering and Economics. I love tutoring students because it is incredibly inspiring to watch a student gain confidence and academic prowess through one-on-one help. After working with students for years, I have become increasingly certain that any student can succeed with proper planning, effective communication, accountability, and attention.

I have been tutoring mathematics for the last 2 years, and I have been giving language lessons for the last 4. I have experience working with children from kindergarten to 11th grade, particularly in mathematics.
Before I start tutoring, I will have a conversation with the parents and the child. I will ask what they hope to gain from tutoring, what academic goals they have, and what specific challenges they want to focus on. After this conversation, I will ask for the class's curriculum, and I will begin working with the child from there.
My typical lesson plan involves a conversation with the student to discuss upcoming tests, assignment deadlines, challenges in school, and to understand teacher feedback. The content varies depending on the circumstances. For instance, if there is an upcoming test, we will go through any gaps in understanding of the content; however, if there is no upcoming test, we will work on homework assignments and lessons customized to fill in understanding gaps. Alternatively, during the summertime, lessons are more tailored to help reinforce the previous year and get ahead for the upcoming year.
