About Abbie
I am a BSc (Hons) Genetics undergraduate at the University of Glasgow with a genuine passion for biology education and helping students feel confident in their learning. My own education journey has taught me that everyone learns differently, which is why I take a patient, flexible, and supportive approach to tutoring. I am familiar with a wide range of learning experiences and focus on creating a calm, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions. After completing my degree, I plan to pursue a postgraduate qualification in Biology teaching, and I bring this long-term commitment to education into every lesson. Parents and students often choose me for my friendly manner, clear explanations, and dedication to helping each learner progress.

My Biology lessons are inclusive, supportive, and tailored to each student’s learning style, with a strong focus on the Scottish curriculum, including National 5 and Higher Biology. As a BSc (Hons) Genetics undergraduate, I aim to make complex biological concepts clear and accessible through structured explanations, clear diagrams, and flexible pacing. Lessons also involve guided problem-solving, including working through past paper questions, graphs, figures, and data-based exam questions. We discuss areas of difficulty the student may be facing and adapt lessons accordingly, with a focus on building confidence, improving exam technique, and developing genuine understanding in a comfortable, supportive learning environment.

Abbie was my biology tutor for a few months, and she really helped me when I was struggling. I honestly haven’t felt more supported by anyone else in my learning. Biology was really tough for me, but Abbie was the one who gave me that boost I needed. I’d recommend her to everyone; she’s so friendly, and we’ve had so many laughs along the way. She’s not at all strict; she just knows exactly how to guide you. Abbie has a ton of different teaching methods, but she adapts them to you, and she’s so patient even when I asked silly questions. I’m really grateful for her; she felt more like a friend than just a tutor.
An absolute pleasure to have had Abbie tutor my daughter for her National 5 biology. She was really engaging and always went the extra mile to make sure my daughter understood the concepts. My daughter went into the exam confident and felt well prepared. A really wonderful tutor and I’d be delighted to have her tutor again. Highly recommended
Abbie was my higher human biology tutor. I found her extremely helpful and really accommodating towards my dyslexia. She gave me loads of helpful tips and tricks and revision resources. I could really tell that her main goal was helping me succeed in my exam, and it was amazing to have that in a tutor. I recommend Abbie so much!
I studied with Abbie at university, where we often worked through coursework together. She was always incredibly friendly and approachable, often making the first move to talk and help others feel at ease.
Abbie explains complex biology concepts, particularly in molecular biology, in a clear and calm way that really builds confidence. She creates a relaxed, non-judgemental learning environment, making her an excellent tutor for students who want to understand the material properly and feel supported while learning.View more recommendations
