I am an undergraduate English student set to graduate with my B.A. in English in December 2019. I also have four years professional and eight years recreational writing experience, through which I have honed my understanding of character tropes and writing conventions.

I lay out the concepts that the student is trying to learn in clear, concise ways, using examples and references that are easy to understand. Then I attempt to relate these concepts to things the student already knows or are easy to remember, through anecdotes and metaphors.
I can focus on what they are learning in school, shore up things that they already learned but have a hard time grasping, or teach them something completely new. I'd be willing to meet with the student and their parents to draw up a lesson plan or curriculum for implementation over multiple lessons.
