About Vanessa
I've been tutoring for three years, working with students ranging from those wanting a quick pre-exam refresher to two long-term students I've tutored continuously over the past three years — both achieved a grade 9 at GCSE Maths, and went on to achieve an A and an A* respectively at A-level Maths.
Academically, I achieved four A*s at A-level (Maths, Further Maths, Physics, and Economics) and a MAT score of 82/100, and I'm currently studying Mathematics at Imperial College London.
Like mentioned in the other section, I am native in both Chinese and English. If my teaching in Chinese/teaching Chinese is an option you are interested in, please reach out to me.

~About My Tutoring
I teach flexibly, adapting to what each student actually needs. For some students, that means a quick session working through past papers and exam questions together, tightening up technique and exam strategy in the run-up to GCSEs or A-levels. For others, it means structured, rigorous teaching that either runs slightly ahead of school pace, or picks out pieces that your teacher didn't do a good enough job explaining at school pace.
I'm quite an easy-going person, I think an encouraging environment is the key to any type of learning, so you should never be afraid to ask "silly" questions.
I believe being able to do well in any sort of natural sciences, means that you need to understand the logic of why each equation works the way they do. So we will be doing a lot of trying to understand theories intuitively in my lessons, the ability to solve questions comes naturally after you understand.
~Lesson Length
Lessons typically run from 45 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the topic and what we're working on that session.
~Who This Is For
I teach all GCSE natural sciences, A-level Maths/Further Maths and MAT students, whether you're looking for a short, focused touch-up before an exam or ongoing support throughout the year.
I am very fluent in both Chinese and English, both are my native languages. So if that is an option you would like to explore, I can also teach the said above in Chinese. And A-level Mandarin for that matter.
Available for both online and in-person lessons.
