About Mel
I have helped incoming college freshman with their college applications through Reddit, Instagram, visitation at a former high school I attended, and at Harvard University. I was the Salutatorian of my U.S. History class and earned a perfect score on my final research paper. I maintained a 94 average in AP Human Geography.
I was the valedictorian of my Pre-Calculus class (93 average). I do best with memorizing the unit circle and the trigonometry portion of Pre-Calculus. However, I am rusty at solving logarithms and exponential forms and remembering how to convert between the two, but I am willing to sharpen that skill. Tutors are human too and no, we are not perfect.
I am a Senior that's homeschooled. I am 18 years old and I love to learn! Currently, I'm studying for 3 SAT Subject Tests, 1 AP test, and the ACT. I am an A average student. I play the Alto Saxophone. I spent a week at Harvard University taking a politics course there. I earned High Honors 5 times in high school and one time in middle school.

I tend to guide the student using visual aids, hints, and positive reinforcement. I use a combination of visual, auditory, and hands-on learning. I would primarily use whatever method is most beneficial to the student's ability to comprehend the material they're learning and their preference too. I usually sit down and teach rather than stand up and teach. I'm not too formal when I teach, I am straightforward, yet provides meticulous explanations as well as conduct my lessons in a conversation style.
