About Daniela

My background in biological sciences, forensic anthropology and bioarchaeology has given me a strong interest in human biology, the structure of the human body and the biological processes that influence health, disease and human variation.
I have experience teaching biology and forensic science at further and higher education levels. My professional and research background includes the examination of human skeletal remains, with research interests spanning palaeopathology, skeletal trauma, activity patterns and the interpretation of biological evidence.

This experience has given me a particular appreciation for the relationship between anatomy, biological function and pathological change. It has also reinforced the importance of careful observation, evidence-based reasoning and understanding the limitations of scientific interpretations.
As a tutor, I aim to make complex subjects accessible without losing the scientific detail that makes them meaningful. I explain concepts clearly, encourage questions and help students develop an understanding of the mechanisms behind what they are learning.

I understand that anatomy and physiology can feel overwhelming when faced with large amounts of terminology and interconnected processes. My approach is to help you organise the information, recognise patterns and build your knowledge step by step.

Whether you're studying human biology at school or tackling introductory anatomy, physiology or pathology at university, I aim to provide supportive, structured guidance tailored to your needs.

My goal is to help you understand not only what happens in the human body, but why it happens and how these processes are connected.

Discover how the human body is built, how it functions and what happens when things go wrong.

Anatomy, physiology and pathology are closely interconnected subjects. Understanding the structure of the human body provides the foundation for understanding how its systems function, while pathology explores the changes that occur when normal biological processes are disrupted by disease or injury.
These subjects can involve a great deal of terminology and complex mechanisms, but learning becomes much easier when the connections between structure, function and disease are clear.

My teaching approach

My lessons focus on helping you understand the human body as an interconnected system rather than learning individual facts in isolation. I break down complicated concepts into manageable steps, using diagrams, clear explanations, examples and practice questions to reinforce understanding.
I adapt each lesson to your academic level, course requirements and individual learning goals. Whether you need help understanding a particular organ system, revising physiological mechanisms or interpreting pathological changes, we can work through the material systematically and at your own pace.

Topics I can help you with

• Human anatomy: anatomical terminology, tissues, organs, skeletal anatomy and the structure of major body systems.
• Human physiology: the functions of organ systems, homeostasis, circulation, respiration, digestion, renal function, the nervous system and endocrine regulation.
• Pathology: the biological mechanisms of disease, inflammation, cellular injury, tissue changes and the principles underlying common pathological processes.
• Structure and function: understanding how anatomical features relate to physiological roles and how these relationships can change in disease.
• Exam preparation: consolidating knowledge, mastering terminology, answering exam-style questions and developing effective revision strategies.

The precise topics will depend on your syllabus and level of study.

Who are my lessons for?

I can support GCSE and A-level biology students studying human biology, as well as first-year undergraduate students in biomedical sciences and related disciplines who need help with introductory anatomy, physiology or pathology.

Lessons typically last 60 minutes and can focus on a particular topic, a broader area of your syllabus or preparation for an upcoming assessment.

My aim is to help you understand the human body with greater confidence, connect theoretical concepts and approach challenging material in a structured and logical way.

Let's make the complexity of the human body easier to understand, one concept at a time.
