About Ian
My name is Ian. I have spent decades working in the electrical contracting trade and gave up that rat race over 15 years ago to re engage in my old photographic hobby. Since then I have spent many years honing my skills and learning more about the subject. As I used to work with instrumentation and technical equipment I found the workings and the tech side of photography almost as interesting as the photography itself. The bottom line being, you will take better pictures if you understand how the camera actually works, and it is this side of the coin I find the most interesting. Ive always said to myself over the year, an understanding of how something works is a lot more interesting and a lot easier to remember than learning something 'parrot fashion'

You may be embarking on a career in photography, or thinking of that degree at university, but the first thing you need to know is how to use your digital camera. There are many courses designed to show you how to take 'better' photographs, be it pets, portraits, headshots, landscapes, still life etc, but knowing what your camera actually does, and what all the switches, buttons, menu's mean is the first step. What is ISO? What is Aperture? What does shutter speed really do? How does flash work? what is a speedlite? what is a strobe? Whatdo all the settings mean A.S.P.M. Wouldnt it also be handy to know how to catalogue your photographs using Abode Lightroom so you can keep track of your work. Once you know how to use your tools, then you will be ready to put them to use and move on. My objective is to make you as familiar with your camera controls as you are with the ones in your car.
