About Annika

I'm a second year graduate student at the Johns Hopkins University School of Education. I have been involved in Intersectional Psychology, Trauma, Early Childhood Education, and Clinical Neuropsychology research. I also give music theory, piano, and violin lessons at Music & Arts.

Personally, I am very interested in social justice and policy advocacy. I have interned with an NYS Senator and the Legal Aid Society of Rochester Education Law Unit. I also hold a Paralegal Certificate from Boston University. I am most interested in Education and Family Laws. With this passion, I actively advocate for various communities, especially as a founder and paralegal at JFAAC. Through my minor in Legal Studies, I have a fair knowledge in legal processes. I also have an interest in biological processes and research, which I am familiar with through my minor in Biological Sciences.

My long term goal is to use the knowledge I have gained from my childhood, work, and academic experiences to help vulnerable families. I want to grab the root of our societal problems and face them with every group that faces them, through their own perspectives. I want to be a compassionate counselor to those in need and a reasonable person towards everyone I work with.

About the lesson

Hello! My name is Annika and I am a Clinical Mental Health Counseling student at Johns Hopkins. I have a Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies (Honors Thesis) degree with minors in Legal Studies and Biology from the University of Rochester.

I have experience teaching beginning and intermediate violin, piano, and music theory classes. I am looking forward to tutoring biology, physiology, and other areas that you may need help with. I have successfully taken AP Biology/Chemistry/Calculus BC, General Chemistry, Philosophy, Psychology (Counseling theories), other social science/humanities courses, and music classes from the Eastman School of Music.

My priorities are helping you understand the material, as well as providing effective feedback and searching for learning approaches that will work for you.
