About Humreet
As a tutor I am really passionate about teaching students reading and writing. I am currently going into my third year of legal studies at the University of Waterloo. I am applying to law school soon and currently studying for the LSAT. I have experience tutoring high school students and editing their reports and essays. I currently work for the writing centre at my university. I assist first year students when they need help writing final essays and reports.

Some of the techniques I use to improve my students writing is that I give them the chance to freewrite. I tell my students to freewrite in their personal journals for 5 minutes without stopping. I also do use rubrics often to give my students frequent feedback. A typical lesson plan for writing would include how to write a paragraph. In this lesson plan I usually break it down into 4 parts. The first part includes explaining the breakdown of how to write a paragraph and make sure every student understands each step. The second part is to ask each student to pick a topic from a list write about. After each student has attempted to write a paragraph there will be a peer review session to give feedback. At the end, I will ask each student to hand in their paragraphs for me to look over. I will provide feedback and tips on how to improve. The lessons are for students in elementary school and middle school.
