About McCartney
I am a current LIV student at McMaster University, about to complete my Honours B.A in English & Cultural Studies with a minor in Society, Culture, and Religion.
Some of my achievements include being High School Valedictorian and Vice President of my University's Student Journal team.
I have some experience in tutoring high school students on English as a subject and university students on Academic Essay Development in private tutoring sessions and groups.
It is my goal to teach English abroad and continue my education so I may become a professor as my career.

Why have an English Tutor?
Want to improve your academic or creative writing? How about your English as a subject skills in general? Reading, writing, grammar - the literary world is your oyster. My tutoring sessions are catered to your needs!
In my tutoring sessions, we can cover any type of English as a subject or creative work that you may desire. Depending on the area(s) you wish to develop, my sessions are structured as follows:
- course/class topics and material can be sent to me before each session (worksheets, questions, area of interest) so I may prepare a lesson plan for our session
- essays that need editing can be shared through google docs where we can both edit and compose - the best kind of knowledge you gain in writing, is by editing and peer-editing your own work
- if there is a specific area you wish to develop and work on, let me know and I will create a lesson plan specifically for you!
- ex. thesis development workshop, grammar
improvement workshop, creative writing workshop, etc.
What can we cover & what level can we learn?
I am available to teach any levels from elementary/middle school English into high school English and towards early post-secondary academic writing and English.
The subject does NOT have to be English, but garnering your writing, reading, or critical thinking skills can also be an area of learning. Some subjects we can tackle include, but are not limited too:

About Me:
I am currently working on completing an Honours B.A English and Cultural Studies degree at McMaster University (Level IV). It is my goal to continue my area of interest into a career of teaching and explore editorial work.
Before I really immersed myself into English as a subject and fell in love with the topic, I was not too crazy for my English classes. I believe it took a bit of encouragement and support before I found my own voice in my work. I truly believe that if you cater to this skill, you may also find yourself in awe of what you can do!
That is why I choose to cater my tutoring sessions to the student, as it is important that your own strengths are highlighted while also developing your skills.
