I am an Honors candidate in Communication and Media at the University of Southern Queensland, where I have received an academic award for excellence in academic achievement. My Honors thesis examines athlete-authored media and journalistic standards in professional tennis, drawing on a 150-article corpus and a custom coding framework to analyze how player-produced content holds up against traditional journalistic norms. It is detailed, original research that has given me a strong command of both media theory and academic methodology.
I offer tutoring for undergraduate and postgraduate students across a range of communication and media subjects, including media theory and analysis, journalism studies, research methods, content analysis, academic writing, and essay and assignment structure. I am equally comfortable helping a first-year student make sense of foundational concepts as I am supporting a final-year student working through a complex research project.
My tutoring approach is practical and focused. I do not just explain theory in the abstract — I help students understand how to apply it, how to build a strong argument, and how to write with clarity and confidence. I know from experience that the gap between understanding a concept and expressing it well in an assignment is where most students struggle, and that is where I focus my energy.
I also bring a unique perspective to media studies as a professional athlete who has been both the subject of sports media and an active researcher of it, which tends to make discussions around representation, framing, and athlete voice particularly engaging.
