About Katharine
Hi! My name is Katharine, and I am an undergraduate student majoring in psychology with double minors in history and anthropology. I am currently a member of my college’s honors program, as well as both a general academic honor society and the psychology honor society. In addition to my academic work, I also serve as a tutor at my university, where I help students strengthen their understanding of course material and develop effective study strategies.
I am passionate about education and believe that learning should feel engaging, supportive, and empowering. My academic background across psychology, history, and anthropology allows me to approach subjects from multiple perspectives while helping students build strong analytical and critical thinking skills. I understand that every student learns differently, so I work hard to create lessons that are personalized, encouraging, and adapted to each student’s goals and learning style.
As both a student and tutor, I understand the challenges that can come with demanding coursework, time management, and academic pressure. Because of this, I strive to create a patient and welcoming environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and gaining confidence in their abilities. Whether a student needs help reviewing material, preparing for exams, improving reading comprehension, or developing stronger study habits, I am committed to helping them succeed.
I work with all grades in subjects including psychology, history, reading comprehension, and related academic skills. My goal is not only to help students improve academically, but also to help them become more confident and independent learners.

As a tutor, my goal is to help students build confidence while developing strong academic and critical thinking skills. I believe that every student learns differently, so I tailor my teaching methods to fit each individual’s learning style, pace, and academic goals. Whether a student needs help understanding course material, preparing for exams, improving reading comprehension, or strengthening writing and study skills, I aim to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment.
My teaching approach focuses on active learning and discussion rather than memorization alone. In subjects like psychology and history, I encourage students to connect concepts to real-world examples and broader themes to deepen understanding and retention. For reading and comprehension support, I work closely with students on analytical thinking, annotation techniques, vocabulary development, and confidence in interpreting texts.
A typical lesson begins with reviewing previous material and identifying areas of difficulty. From there, I guide students through concepts step-by-step using explanations, practice questions, discussion, and collaborative problem-solving. I also help students develop effective study habits, organizational strategies, and test preparation techniques that they can continue using independently.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my combination of academic achievement, peer tutoring experience, and interdisciplinary background. As an undergraduate psychology major with double minors in history and anthropology, a member of the honors program, and both an academic honor society and psychology honor society, I understand the demands students face in rigorous academic environments. My experience as a campus tutor has strengthened my ability to explain difficult concepts clearly, patiently, and in ways that are accessible to different learners.
Lessons are ideal for all grades seeking support in psychology, history, reading comprehension, study skills, and related coursework. I especially enjoy helping students who want to improve their confidence, organization, and overall academic performance.
