About Lexa

I am a student at Red Deer Polytechnic and 4-H member. I have done lots of writing throughout high school and competed in many different public speaking events. I graduated as an Honors Student with Distinction and have won multiple writing related competitions. As a 4-H member, I have taught younger kids and learned the importance of patience, versatility, and overall kindness. I have also been apart of other volunteering groups like Students in Action at my high school. In addition to this, I have received the Bob Smith Leadership award for displaying qualities such as adaptability, kindness, and diligence. While English writing can be difficult, I try to make it more enjoyable while ensuring that the student develops the skills they require to succeed.

About the lesson

I have learned many tips and tricks about public speaking and writing through my years as a 4-H member and the essay/creative writing contests I have entered. I have tutored fellow students in the past and also acted as a beta reader for published authors. I understand that everyone interprets English writing differently and will adapt my teaching methods according to the students needs. It is my goal to make the student confident about writing and gain the necessary grammar skills they will need going forward. I am able to teach any grade level from 4 to 12. For younger grades, I have more game related activities that help the student gain interest in writing. For students about to graduate high school, I will focus on grammar and writing structure to help prepare the student for Diploma exams. Besides writing, I also teach public speaking skills. I have competed in many competitions and understand the nervousness that young people can have when on stage or in front of a group. I help students become more confident speakers by giving tips about body language, voice expression, and exercises to make them more comfort on a stage. Overall, I look forward to meeting students hope to help them develop the writing and speaking skills they need!
