About Joel
I have a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and a PhD in philosophy. I have taught everything from Adult Basic Education (ABE), to test prep, to seminars for college undergraduates. I have also written English/Language Arts/Humanities digital curriculum for grades 7-12.

My primary teaching method is Socratic, meaning that I use questions to explore a student’s current understanding of a topic or subject, and direct them to discover the answers.
I like to use visual learning tools to help break down complex ideas into simpler ones.
I am also an expert in test-taking strategies, so I can show you tips and tricks to improve your scores.

You may cancel a session by giving at least 24 hours prior notice and no fees will be incurred. Canceling fewer than 24 hours in advance will incur a 50% charge of the lesson fee if I did not travel to the tutoring location (100% if I traveled to the tutoring location).
