Reading has always been a hobby that fills me up with joy. The reality is, for some kids reading is a big source of anxiety. From working with kids in a reading program at my public library, I saw just how much kids could love to read, and how much they could learn and grow just with some extra one on one reading sessions.
Teachers don't have the time to spend individually with kids, and neither do parents, but these kids just fall further and further behind, which makes them stressed and anxious, and leads to them resenting the subject entirely.
If you are in school and struggling with reading, don't be embarrassed! I can help you feel more comfortable reading aloud, and maybe, just maybe, I can change your mind about reading. Who knows, maybe reading could bring you joy someday too!

I have always loved to read, but oftentimes I come across kids who claimed they hate reading. This makes me sad because reading is the foundation of all knowledge, and a tool for greater exploration of concepts, ideas, and perspectives you may not otherwise be exposed to. I am a firm believer that there are no non-readers, just people who haven't found the right book yet. I also know that reading aloud can be frightening, and all kids need is some encouragement in a judgement-free, safe place. Soon they will become comfortable reading aloud in front of their peers, and further enhance their vocabulary, reading and writing skills, and oral communication.
I can help children from age 4-14 who struggle with reading aloud or lack confidence with reading in front of their class.
