A Note to My Future Students of English Literature English literature is not just about books, exams, or memorizing names and dates. It is about learning to see—to see human emotions clearly, to understand cultures deeply, and to express your own thoughts with confidence and beauty. When you learn English literature with me, you won’t be treated as someone who must “understand the text correctly.” Instead, you will be encouraged to think, question, and feel the text. Poems, plays, novels, and essays are living conversations across time—and your voice matters in that conversation. Literature will help you: Think independently and critically Express ideas with clarity and originality Understand people, societies, and yourself better Improve your English naturally—through stories, rhythm, and meaning, not fear My approach is simple: literature should feel alive. We will connect classic texts to modern life, art, cinema, travel, philosophy, and real human experiences. There is no pressure to be “perfect”—only an invitation to be curious, honest, and expressive. If you love stories, ideas, emotions, or if you simply want to understand the world and yourself better through words, you are in the right place.
