About Tyler
With a basis in pop and rock guitar, I've always found a certain allure in the culture of music. The hair, the fashion, the lifestyle, the artistry, and not least, the incredible talent this props up. Desperate to ingratiate myself in this world, I studied music at college where I found a love for playing gigs and connecting with other musicians. I then went on to earn a degree in professional musicianship at Bimm Brighton. From university I went through some personal struggles, fell into working in hospitality and wished I had done more with my musical skills. A few years on from this I built myself up to a point of regained strength and confidence and decided to go back to studying, this time for a master's degree. Since this moment I've fully re-emerged as a musician and creative professional taking up countless opportunities and sculpting my brand identity. I now wish to impart the same influence onto my students and help them to not only replicate what inspires them but help them to develop a fundamental understanding of how these sounds and formats are built.

As a holder of an undergrad and master's degree in music, and as a fan, I have in-depth experience playing and writing music on guitar and bass. With a fundamental understanding of rhythm and harmony, I can also easily dissect guitar, vocal, and piano/synth parts; however, this is not my area of specific expertise. I specialise in writing intricate original music, mainly in rock and pop genres; however, I am competent in most Western music genres. I aim to teach you to learn and understand the genres and artists that inspire you most. Not only giving you the techniques and resources required to replicate the music you love, but the fundamental theoretical understanding to translate these skills into your own wider playing. I will walk you through the techniques/songs you would like to develop, or I can listen to your playing ability/discuss your intentions and then come up with lesson plans that I think will suit you personally. I will also provide relevant charts/sources and exercises to improve your understanding of my teachings and allow you to continue in your own time.
