About Jonathan
I graduated cum laude with a degree in International Affairs from George Washington University's Elliott School and with a Master of Public Policy (MPP) from University of Michigan's Ford School. I've gone on to pursue a career in public policy, specifically working at a nonprofit empowering young policy journalists for several years. I love the subjects of history, politics, and policy. My hope is that my enthusiasm will rub off a bit on my students, but either way what I find most rewarding is helping individual students tap into their own potential and accomplish their goals.

I believe that all students are capable of excelling, and that each student requires a customized approach. My general methodology is to first review the facts with a student and then delve into the theories and arguments surrounding those facts. Once the student has a foundational understanding, I then proceed to quizzing to test knowledge. This quizzing may involve flash cards, verbal questions, or even the Socratic Method depending on the subject. Finally, I encourage the student, with my guidance, to independently complete assignments, essays, or study guides that will allow them to do as well as possible on exams or in class. As someone with both academic experience and real-world professional experience, I strive to highlight the real-world benefits of education, and I stress that history and policy do not exist in a vacuum. I also try to make my lessons as fun and comfortable as possible! My lessons are for middle school to college-level students who are seeking high levels of achievement in their classes, AP tests, or any kind of standardized exam. I specialize in classes related to social studies, history, or political science.
