About Thiago
Hi, my name is Thiago Matos. I have a degree in International Relations from UNISUL and a degree in History from UDESC. I was born in Florianópolis, where I lived most of my life -- except for 3 years in which I lived in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I currently live in the neighborhood of Kobrasol, in São José.
I was monitor of the subjects of Modern History (I and II) and Contemporary History (I and II). In the mandatory internship, I taught classes about the period of the Brazil Empire. I have already given private tutoring to elementary and high school students, both in General History and Brazilian History.

"History is to society what memory is to the individual". Just as a person depends on his memories to guide his own life, human societies need History as a way to guide themselves in time.
Names and dates of events are important didactic references, but to study real History is to understand human beings in their past context. Whether in Mesopotamia in 3000 BC or in the Iraq War in 2003, to understand history you need to be able to imagine how these people lived. For that, I prepare classes with written sources of the period (either an old parchment or a newspaper clipping), iconographic sources (paintings and photographs), maps and animations. I can also recommend films, series and documentaries, all so that you have an immersive experience of the subject studied -- a trip to the past.
