About Ellen

Long-term Londoner, passionate about food—whether cooking at home or exploring new restaurants. A gym-goer, bad dancer, and museum/gallery enthusiast, with a love for travel—33 countries and counting! UCL Graduate in History, specialised in 20th Century Russian with a dissertation on the 1980s summits between Gorbachev and Reagan. Also did a year abroad in St Petersburg learning the beautiful though challenging Russian language. As a language learner and someone with learning differences, I’m particularly empathetic and experienced with students who face challenges with their learning. I’m passionate about building student confidence and finding the right study methods tailored to each individual’s needs.

About the lesson

Each lesson and programme of tuition is bespoke to each individual student. History GCSE & A Level - Start with an initial consultation to discuss the student’s goals and difficulties. - Review current work and identify areas for improvement. - Develop effective study methods, including note-taking techniques. - Analyse and refine writing style and exam techniques. Specialist areas are: Modern Russian History, Weimar and Nazi Germany and The Cold War History/Politics Exploration Lessons Explore History and Politics through tailored lessons. Specialise in: Modern Russian History The Cold War Major 20th-century events English Language Specialise in advancing vocabulary, writing structure, and practical language use. Areas of expertise include: - CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning): Learning English by studying other subjects. - Speaking Practice and Pronunciation: Focused exercises to build fluency and clarity. - Business English: Tailored lessons for professional contexts. - Group classes are also available. University & Careers Support With experience as the former Head of Higher Education at a leading Education Consultancy, I provide support to families globally. I can assist with: - Reviewing applications. - Researching and selecting universities in the UK, Europe, Canada, and the US. - Assisting with graduate job searches.
