About Catherine
I have a desire to engage young people with academia in a meaningful way, and so I tutored throughout my undergraduate degree. I developed strong relationships with students, and they achieved impressive GCSE and A-Level results. With a First Class degree from the University of Oxford, I understand what it takes to achieve exam success, but I also want to intellectually inspire students.

My lessons are one hour in length and I teach History and English Literature to KS3, GCSE and A-level standard. I also offer teaching and advice for Oxbridge entrance exams in History and English. I am happy to suit my teaching style to the individual student and their needs, which we can discuss in advance of the first lesson. I like to encourage students to experiment with ideas and think of alternative points of view, because this is so crucial to the disciplines I teach. I enjoy tailoring lessons to a student's interests in order to keep the lessons engaging. History, for example, should not be a stuffy subject about dead people, but rather it should be a lively one, full of discussion that speaks into our world today! As a recent graduate myself, I understand the pressures of the current education system, and I enjoy working with students to build confidence in their abilities.
