During my Erasmus Year, I studied at La Sapienza University in Rome, undertaking classes in Italian in Philosophy, History and Art History and Criticism. I hold an TEFL qualification, which enabled me to teach english to adults and children whilst working in Chile and Italy before attending University.
I have always been very excited by the detective work of understanding the past, whether through images or words. What was that person trying to convey? Why? And what was being understood? I enjoy assisting student’s through this process, helping them gain confidence in their ideas and clarity and ease in how they critical engage with what they are studying.

Lessons begin with setting out the learning objectives of the session. This gives the student an opportunity to voice any objectives they also would like the lesson to cover. Then we select a series of question/themes we want to address and pool the students prior knowledge of the subject. Then we build on this foundation, filling out the gaps. This studying is done is a way the student finds suits their learning style the most. We then apply this knowledge, answering questions and discussing through answers. It is always important that the student is vocal in their learning process, as this helps instil confidence in where they are up to in their preparation.
My tutoring works to encourage students to think through and develop their ideas and critical thinking. My objective is to building their confidence in their way of thinking and ability - so they voice their opinion and questions.
When preparing students to take exams, I always worked to developed an arsenal of arguments and ideas that they can pick and choose from to answer questions. Revision should be active and simulate what exams ask of students - to answer questions. Rather than reading pages of notes, begin with revision with questions so you are already thinking critically about the information you are reading and so when the exam day comes around, and you are faced with a list of questions it is second nature.
