About Whitman
I am a junior in high school and have been taking English classes throughout my life. I have always loved reading and writing, and I am currently enrolled in AP English Language, which is a college-level English class. Additionally, I have experience in babysitting and providing in-person tutoring for multiple years. I have assisted numerous children and their parents during this time. I consistently excel as an English student and aspire to pursue a career in writing. Throughout my academic journey, I have consistently earned A grades in English classes and have scored above the 96th percentile in various standardized tests for English proficiency. Shifting to my qualifications in chess, I successfully led a class of 1st to 4th graders in an afterschool program last year, contributing to their 2nd-place victory in their 1st major tournament. I hold a rating of 1870, tied for 169th overall in Illinois, and currently hold the title of K-12 Chicago City Champion.

English: I am a highschool student currently taking AP Lang (One of the hardest HS English classes), and I tutor K-8 in English. I have always loved English, and have been in the 96th percentile for MAP and PSAT tests all my life. My method to teaching English is to build upoun exsisting critical reading skills by frequent analysis of literature and practice in understanding writing choices. I also will develop your writing skills to help with your overall understanding of English and literature. My reccomendation is that you have homework or tests that we can review together to correct and build your English skills.
Chess: Not only am I a big reader and writer, but I also love the game of kings. I have played since 3rd grade, and have brought my US Chess Official rating up to 1870, which makes me the 169th best Chess player in Illinois according to US Chess. Not to mention, I am also the reining K-12 Greater Chicago Chess Champion, a title I won at Mcormick Place last year. My method to teaching chess is similar to my method of teaching English. We will review the games of grandmasters and analyze there choices. I will teach you the many mini-skills required to get to my level, and help you improve your chess reasoning and desicion making. Like with my English method, it would be best if you brought online or tournament games to review and grow your skills.
