About Teresa

I earned my PhD in British and American literature in 1994. Before that, I earned two Master's degrees in English. Since finishing my own formal education, I have worked in higher education for thirty years; I have been a classroom teacher, as well as a department chair and dean. But no matter the office in which I served, I never lost sight of student success as my North Star.

About the lesson

I strongly believe that anyone can learn to be a better reader and writer. There are strategies that I have used with students for decades that have proven extremely effective. My abiding goal is to help students fulfill their promise. I also maintain that the best teachers/tutors know how to meet students where they are, and then to provide them with the skills and the confidence they need to master the important skills of critical reading, thinking, and clarity of expression. I am adept at working closely with students on a one-on-one basis to improve their understandings of assigned and supplemental materials. I also am extremely effective with helping students build their communication skills in both speaking and writing.
