About Yasmin

Hello! My name is Yasmin, and I am passionate about helping children develop confidence, independence, and a love of learning. I specialise in supporting nursery and primary-aged children in Maths and English, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

I have worked in education since 2018 and have had the privilege of supporting children from a wide range of backgrounds in both state and independent schools. Much of my experience has involved working one-to-one with children who require additional support, helping them overcome challenges and celebrate their achievements.

I hold Level 3 and Level 4 qualifications in Childcare, am HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant) qualified, and am currently working towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Alongside this, I have completed SEN training covering a variety of needs, including speech and language development and occupational therapy approaches.

I chose to become a tutor because I love seeing children grow in confidence and realise what they are capable of achieving. Every child learns differently, and I enjoy finding creative and engaging ways to help them succeed. Whether a child needs support to catch up, build confidence, or reach their full potential, I believe learning should be positive, enjoyable, and tailored to their individual needs.

My aim is to create a supportive environment where children feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and developing the skills they need to thrive both in school and beyond. Seeing a child gain confidence in their abilities and begin to enjoy learning is the most rewarding part of what I do.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring and teaching

I believe that every child learns differently, so I take a personalised approach to tutoring. Before we begin, I spend time getting to know both the child and their family to understand their strengths, interests, and any areas where they may need additional support. This allows me to tailor lessons to suit their individual learning style and help them build confidence alongside academic skills.

My teaching is engaging, practical, and child-centred. I enjoy incorporating active learning, hands-on activities, and real-life experiences into lessons to make learning meaningful and enjoyable. I use a variety of techniques and resources to ensure children remain motivated and can access learning in a way that works best for them.

I have extensive experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and have received specialist training covering a range of additional needs, including speech and language development and occupational therapy strategies. This enables me to adapt my teaching effectively to meet individual needs and help every child reach their potential.

Lesson length

I offer flexible tutoring sessions to suit your child’s needs and schedule. Lessons can be:

* 1 hour
* 1 hour 30 minutes
* 2 hours

I am available after school, at weekends, and during school holidays.

Qualifications and experience

* Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) qualified
* Level 3 and Level 4 qualifications in Childcare
* Currently working towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* Working in education since 2018
* Extensive 1:1 experience supporting children with SEN
* Experience working in both state and independent schools
* Knowledge and training in supporting a range of additional needs, including speech and language and occupational therapy approaches
