About Erjona
As someone who left my home country to pursue my education in the United States, I understand what it means to face challenges, adapt, and push forward with determination. My journey from being an international student to becoming an accountant — and later taking the leap into teaching — taught me the value of perseverance, learning, and self-belief. While working in accounting, I realized that true fulfillment for me comes not just from numbers, but from helping others understand them. That’s what inspired me to become a teacher. In the classroom, I found my purpose: empowering students to overcome their academic challenges and see their own potential. As a math tutor, I bring not only strong technical expertise but also patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to see my students succeed. I strive to create a welcoming, judgment-free environment where every question matters and every concept becomes clear. My diverse background helps me connect with students from different cultures and learning styles — I’ve been in their shoes, and I know how powerful encouragement and guidance can be.

As a tutor, I focus on creating an engaging and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring new concepts. My teaching method combines step-by-step explanations, real-world examples, and active problem-solving to help students truly understand why formulas and methods work — not just how to use them.
I adapt each lesson to the student’s individual learning style, using visual aids, practice exercises, and interactive discussions to make even challenging math topics easier to grasp. My goal is to build confidence as much as competence.
A Typical Lesson Plan:
DO NOW (5–10 mins) – Quick recap of the previous topic or a few practice problems to check understanding.
Instruction time (10–15 mins) – Explain the new concept using simple examples and clear visuals.
Guided Practice (15–20 mins) – Work through problems together, breaking down each step and reinforcing reasoning.
Independent Practice (10–15 mins) – The student solves problems on their own while I provide feedback and support.
EXIT TICKET (5 mins) – Summarize key takeaways, assign targeted practice, and preview the next lesson.
