Spelling Focus (15 minutes) – Word Patterns & Challenge Words Introduce a weekly spelling rule (e.g., "i before e except after c"). Provide a list of words that follow this rule. Activity: “Speed Spell” – Students write as many correct words as possible in 1 minute. Challenge: Introduce 2-3 high-level words for bonus points. 3. Grammar Lesson (15 minutes) – Interactive Practice Mini-Lesson: Teach one key grammar concept (e.g., subject-verb agreement, punctuation, homophones). Group Challenge: Have students fix incorrect sentences in teams and explain their corrections. Example: Incorrect: "The dog and the cat is playing outside." Correct: "The dog and the cat are playing outside." 4. Reading & Comprehension (15 minutes) – Engaging Text & Discussion Read a short story, article, or excerpt from a novel.
