About Moss
My name is Moss, and I am a certified English nerd. I have given a TEDx talk, was a finalist for the Hawai'i Youth Poet Laureate, have a 99th percentile PSAT score in the reading and writing section, and am a published author.
I love all aspects of language, and want to help you love it too. That starts with helping you build literacy and confidence in a setting where you aren't afraid to fail.
If you choose me as your tutor, I'll encourage & support you, give you guidance when you need it, and help you feel confident in your ELA skills.

As a current high school student, I uniquely understand the stress of test prep and essay writing.
I'm here to help by creating a lesson plan tailored to your specific needs. When I tutor, I strive to create an environment where you feel safe making mistakes and feel supported in your learning journey.
I typically teach students grades 5-10, but am open to tutoring grades 4, 11, and 12 in select cases. I adjust my approach depending on age and maturity, covering grammar basics and advanced topics, poetry, essay writing, test prep and speech to help develop skills to express your ideas eloquently.
I believe that language is a tool, and I want to help you use it to your advantage.

What I noticed right away was that Moss seemed to care about me and what I wanted to accomplish, what my needs were. There was no “one size fits all” approach. Even though I was older than he was, he never made me feel dumb.
