About Mary
I have been a teacher for 21 years in a suburban school district in Upstate New York. My credentials:
—BA in English Education from Hope College (2005)
—MA in Linguistics from Syracuse University (2010)
—New York State Certification in High School English (2005-current)
—National Board Certification (2015-current)
Throughout my 21 years of teaching, I have:
--Taught 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades of all levels. This includes standard courses, honors courses, college-level courses I trained to teach through Syracuse University, and courses within a program designed to support at-risk students.
--Designed and implemented curriculum for 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade classes
--Facilitated a faculty group aimed at understanding and supporting student mental health
--Facilitated community-wide readings of books pertinent to current challenges our students face
--Advised multiple student clubs
--Helped launch our school's chapter of the National English Honors Society
--Helped countless students develop college admissions essays
--Worked with students with a wide range of abilities and disabilities
