About the lesson

My approach to private tuition is centred on inspiring students to enjoy learning and develop confidence in their abilities.

I tailor every lesson to the individual needs of each student, carefully identifying strengths and areas for improvement before creating a personalised learning plan. By addressing weaknesses at their root, I help students make consistent and measurable progress. I specialise in GCSE English Language and Literature, with experience teaching students across the AQA, Edexcel, and OCR exam boards. My lessons are tailored to the specific requirements of each specification, ensuring students are fully prepared for their exams.

A typical lesson begins with a past paper assessment or exam-style questions. This allows me to identify a student’s strengths and weaknesses from the outset, providing a clear picture of the areas that require the most attention. By diagnosing gaps in knowledge and exam technique early, lessons can be focused on the topics that will have the greatest impact on a student’s grade.

From there, I deliver targeted teaching, model high-level responses, and guide students through proven exam strategies, including question interpretation, essay structure, timing, and mark scheme analysis. This data-driven approach ensures every lesson is productive, personalised, and focused on maximising exam performance and confidence.

Alongside developing subject knowledge, I provide extensive exam preparation and proven exam strategies, including time management, question analysis, structuring high-mark responses, and techniques used by top-performing students. I also provide targeted feedback after every lesson to aid students in further developing their skills and understanding of English . My goal is not only to improve grades but also to equip students with the skills and confidence needed for long-term academic success.
