About Charmaine
Hey, I'm Charmaine! Currently based in Melbourne and studying at Melbourne University, but I'm from an island in Southeast Asia called Borneo :) I spend a concerning amount of time watching movies, so feel free to ask me for any recommendations!
I adore teaching and interacting with children. My favorite subjects to teach across all ages are English and Geography. Our world is so big that it's hard to see so much of it, but I'll surely try and take you there.
Some experiences of mine: I scored an 8.5 band for IELTS, and 2 A*s in English Literature and Language for IGCSE. I've taught kids under 6 for 2.5 years, and it was the best! I'm a research advisor for WWF Malaysia (contract) and for a EU research project based in Ireland.

Materials used in my lessons are created by me in a structure that's both holistic and engaging! I focus on breaking down complex ideas in an entertaining and engaging manner for the kids. I ensure they FULLY understand basic concepts before building on to them, and reinforcing it through fun activities and repetition. I feel it's really important that kids grasp the material, rather than memorize it as it sets them up for success! My sessions typically run for 60 minutes, though students wanting longer sessions (e.g. 90 minutes) can also be arranged. I have a strong background in subjects like English, Business, and Geography. My English lessons are best suited for early years (Year 1 to Year 6). Subjects like Geography and Business, however, are suited for high school students.
