About Laenen
I’m Laenen and I’m a high school student with a strong passion for reading and writing, and I enjoy helping others improve their essays and academic confidence. I earned a 33 on the ACT Reading section, demonstrating advanced comprehension and analysis skills, and I’ve taken multiple college-credit English courses that focused on writing, literature, public speaking, and critical thinking. I will best support students by helping them with essay structure, clarity, proofreading, and strengthening their voice while staying true to assignment goals!

In an essay editing session, I’ll start by briefly listening to you give the context of your essay—what it’s for, the prompt, your main message, and what you want help with—so the I knows how to focus my feedback. Next, I’ll give big-picture feedback first, making sure the essay clearly answers the prompt, has a strong and consistent voice, and flows well without confusion or repetition. Then, we’ll go through the essay paragraph by paragraph to check that each section has a clear purpose, supports your main idea, and uses specific details with smooth transitions. After the structure and content are solid, I’ll move on to line-level edits like grammar, word choice, sentence flow, and cutting unnecessary words. Finally, we’ll end the session by clarifying your next steps—what the top changes are, whether anything still needs work, and if another review would be helpful after revisions.
